Westminster International University in Tashkent, in partnership with IT Park Uzbekistan, proudly hosted the Hult Prize Uzbekistan Nationals, marking a historic milestone as the first institution in Central Asia to organise the national round of the Hult Prize competition. The event brought together some of the country’s most promising student entrepreneurs, innovators and changemakers for a day dedicated to bold ideas and social impact.
“The Hult Prize is widely recognised as one of the world’s largest student entrepreneurship programmes, running a year-long competition that supports students in building for-profit social ventures. Teams compete for a place in the Global Accelerator and a chance to receive $1 million in seed funding to develop their startup ideas.”
The competition programme at WIUT included orientation sessions, preliminary pitching rounds, final presentations before an expert jury, Hult Talks with guest speakers, judges’ deliberation, an award ceremony and networking opportunities. Throughout the event, participants presented innovative startup solutions addressing real social and economic challenges, while engaging with mentors, industry professionals and fellow young entrepreneurs in an inspiring and energetic atmosphere.
We are also very happy to announce that Fonus Kids, one of WIUT’s startup teams, won the final round and the entire Uzbekistan Nationals competition. Fonus Kids is a safe, ad-free media platform designed for children and trusted by parents, in which every cartoon, story and game on the platform is carefully curated to provide meaningful and secure content for young audiences.
WIUT remains committed to supporting talented students, strengthening the startup ecosystem in Uzbekistan and creating opportunities for young innovators to bring their ideas to the global stage.
