Women staff profile
In 2023, the total number of staff at WIUT, including academic, administrative and professional, equaled 470 people. Among them 210 staff members or 45 percent were women.
Out of 200 publications in 2023, 48 per cent of publications were published by female faculty members.

CPRO: Gender Equality Foresight
On October 20th, 2023, Dr. John Sweeney, UNESCO Chair in Anticipatory Governance and Sustainable Policymaking at CPRO, led a Gender Equality Foresight workshop within the "Gender Equality Project" (GEP). The event, organized by UNDP Uzbekistan, in collaboration with the Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, aimed to develop innovative strategies using a foresight approach to shape a brighter future for women in Uzbekistan. The event brought together experts from various fields, including representatives from the Senate, ministries and agencies, youth and civil society institutions, as well as foresight and gender experts. The primary objective of the workshop was to explore forward-looking approaches to address gender equality and women's empowerment in Uzbekistan. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions and shared their expertise to develop strategies that promote positive change, improve opportunities, and protect the rights of women in Uzbekistan. Dr. Nilufar Rashitova, Acting Director of the Center for Policy Research and Outreach at WIUT, also joined the workshop.
Joining 'National Dialogue on Women in Science'
Dr Etenesh B. Asfaw (Senior Research Fellow at CPRO) participated and gave a speech at the 'National Dialogue on Women in Science' hosted by the National Research University (TIIAME) on March 2, 2023. Objective of the dialogue was to exchange experiences on how to achieve gender equality in Science, Technology and Innovation and SDG target 5.
