8.2.6 Employment policy pay scale equity
Our university is committed to achieving pay scale equity and eliminating gender pay gaps, making it a priority to ensure fair and transparent compensation practices within the institution. This commitment is especially relevant within Uzbekistan, where gender equity in pay remains a significant area of focus. Our efforts to address pay scale disparities and gender bias in compensation are supported by specific policies and actions designed to measure, understand, and close any existing gaps.
In alignment with our commitment, we follow a policy on pay scale equity that emphasizes equal pay for equal work across all roles and levels. We ensure that all salary structures and pay increments are designed to promote fairness, avoiding any direct or indirect gender-based discrimination. This is supported by Provision 1.4 of our Code of Ethics, which commits the university to eliminating discrimination based on gender in hiring, compensation, and promotion practices. In Uzbekistan, this focus on transparent pay practices is especially important, as it fosters a culture of fairness and inclusivity.
Regular Analysis and Reporting on Pay Equity
To identify and address any gender-based disparities in pay, we conduct regular gender pay gap analyses across all roles and departments. These analyses help us track progress and highlight any areas for improvement:
Recognizing that gender pay gaps are influenced by several factors, we adopt a multi-faceted approach to address underlying causes. This includes targeted initiatives to increase women’s representation in senior roles, promote workplace flexibility, and provide support for parental and caregiving responsibilities. We also take steps to mitigate unconscious bias in pay decisions through training programs and awareness initiatives, ensuring that compensation practices are free from gender bias at every level. By understanding and addressing these root causes, we are better able to achieve long-term pay equity.
Through these structured and transparent steps, we remain committed to eliminating gender pay gaps and ensuring fair pay for all employees. By continuously analyzing data, setting clear targets, and creating accountability, we are making tangible progress in addressing pay equity in Uzbekistan and promoting a culture of fairness and equality across the university.
